The Turkey Vulture is distinguished by its large, bald, red head, which happens to be its most important feature, as it frequently sticks it inside a carcass to reach meat. It is about 25 to 32 inches long, with a wingspan around 6 feet, and weighs 6 pounds. As it soars, this bird holds its wings slightly upward, giving it a shallow "V" profile. We give the Turkey Vulture a "U" for ugly.
