We should be sympathetic towards the Hawaiian Hoary Bat since it is an endangered species...but that wouldn't be fair (or fun). "Hoary" best describes the fur of the bat, which is brown and gray, shaded with white, giving it a "frosty" (but still ugly) look. Their ears are short and rounded, with black, naked rims. But the most distinguishing (and hideous) feature on the Hawaiian Hoary Bat is the yellow buff throat. The look on this thing serves up quite a scare.
