What is Progeria? Progeria is a condition that resembles premature aging.The term usually refers specifically to Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome, an extremely rare condition where symptoms resembling some aspects of aging are manifested at an early age, and few affected children live past age 13. About 1 in 8 million babies are born with this condition. It is a genetic condition, but occurs sporadically and is usually not inherited.
This family in India has FIVE children who have had the rapid aging disease Progeria. Two have since died. This is the first time in history that a single family has had more than one child afflicted.
